「印度新聞信託社」（Press Trust of India）今天報導，飛彈在上午9時40分（當地時間）從綜合飛彈試射場的移動式發射台成功試射。綜合飛彈試射場主任普拉薩（M.V.K.V. Prasad）說，這是該款飛彈使用單位印度陸軍進行的試射。
報導說，烈火二型配備先進精準導航系統，20公尺長的飛彈重17噸，可籌載1000公斤。
國防研究暨發展組織（Defence Research andDevelopment Organization, DRDO）2011、2012年分別成功試射射程4000公里的烈火四型（Agni-IV）、射程逾5000公里的烈火五型（Agni-V）飛彈。其中烈火五型射程可涵蓋中國大陸全境，未來服役後將加大打擊縱深並提升核威懾。
