鴿子需要的是鴿飼料。好的鴿飼料雖然貴，但是利大於弊，飼料給的好，鴿子飛的就快。白色的鴿子，是正義的象徵，飼料不同，鴿子的成長也會不同，要如何養出好鴿，真的是需要用心。
看那廣場上，有些用麵包屑餵養的鴿子，看到坐在地上的民眾，會興奮的用翅膀拍拍人們的肩膀。或是吐口水對這些人們噴射，在自由的環境下，人們跟鴿子平和的在一起。
在賽鴿界，要養好鴿子，飼料當然很重要，飼料配方的好壞將直接影響著賽鴿比賽的成績，賽鴿界是求的是賽飛的成績、速度與歸返率。麻豌豆、野豌豆、青豌豆、楓豆、綠豆，米、大麥、小麥、稻穀、糙米．．．都不可缺少。
