不寄神籬下 恆春城隍爺回家

〔自由時報記者蔡宗憲／恆春報導〕百年城隍爺回家了！日治時代「老家」被毀壞，「寄神籬下」多年的恆春城隍爺，經過一年重建城隍廟，昨天將神尊請回安座，預計週一凌晨正式開廟門，未來可望成為恆春新的信仰中心。

地方耆老指出，恆春都城隍廟建於一八九三年，日治時期皇民化統治，日人鼓勵祭拜神社取代廟宇，城隍廟年久失修頹圮，日本人在一九二一年順勢夷平該廟，神像被信徒搶救暫時安置在三山國王廟。

恆春鎮長葉明順表示，許多恆春年輕一輩不知道恆春有城隍爺，他八年前無意間被城隍爺託夢，希望回到原來的廟宇，不想再「寄神籬下」，驚奇之餘詢問老一輩，才知道恆春城隍爺存在，但舊址已興建恆春消防隊大樓，便選在恆春鎮公所舊址（現恆春轉運站）後方建廟，完成城隍爺心願，今年中元豎孤棚大賽時，可望一併舉辦城隍爺文化祭典，讓城隍爺重新回到鎮民心中。
