現在正是三星鄉農特產品紅龍果的採收期，鄉公所為打開通路及與知名度，15日在紅龍果產銷班舉辦上市發表會。鄉長黃錫墉有信心將紅龍果推廣成為三星「第六寶」。炎炎夏日，用紅龍果作成冰沙等冰品，清涼下肚好消暑。

黃錫墉指出，三星鄉因地形和氣候特殊，盛產白蒜、銀柳、三星蔥、上將梨和三星米等農特產品，稱為「三星五寶」。近年來鼓勵果農種植紅龍果，熱量低又養生，深受消費者歡迎，總是供不應求，值得擴大栽種面積，成為三星「第六寶」。

鄉公所表示，紅龍果營養豐富，有益健康，在產銷班農友的努力下，栽植面積與技術不斷提升，種植面積從民國98年大約3.5公頃，到今年已擴增至7公頃，產量280公噸，產值1,400萬元。每年5月到11月，是採收期。該鄉位於蘭陽溪沖積扇頂點，引蘭陽溪的水源灌溉，泥沙中富含礦物有機質及微量元素，所以能孕育出一顆顆晶圓飽滿的紅龍果。
