當今球后Serena Williams與俄羅斯嬌娃Maria Sharapova雙雙晉級到四強，兩人若再勝利，就會在決賽進行生涯第19次的交手。

Williams從未再辛辛那提奪冠，她以6-1、6-3輕取塞爾維亞好手Jelena Jankovic，爭取決賽門票的對手是Caroline Wozniacki，丹麥甜心6-4、7-6（5）淘汰Agnieszka Radwanska。

「當然，我很樂意在這裡拿下冠軍。」Williams表示：「但與此同時，我不希望給自己壓力，我試著讓壓力釋放。」

Williams前5次參加辛辛那提網賽，去年在決賽敗給白俄羅斯選手Victoria Azarenka，只要能在與 Wozniacki的第9度交手取得勝利，就能再度挑戰后座。

Sharapova則在八強以3-6、6-4、6-4擊落大會第五種子、來自羅馬尼亞的Simona Halep，準決賽的對手是Ana Ivanović。
