訪問中，一對球評預測艾拉妮與大威誰比較有勝算，兩個人都認為大威會贏，一個球評說艾拉妮發球軟趴趴，能贏四局就不錯了。結果（艾拉妮）打到第三盤，搶七得勝。

今年34歲的大威，有免疫系統方面的問題，從2011年以來，就沒有在大型比賽打進過第四輪。本屆美網，她排名大會第19種子。

排名大會第13種子的艾拉妮，下一場將對上淘汰掉第二種子（哈勒普）的克羅埃西亞選手（魯西琪）。
