美記者家人：索特羅夫為沈默者發聲

美國記者索特羅夫(Steven Sotloff)遭到伊斯蘭國(IS)戰士斬首，他的家人3日打破沈默表示，索特羅夫為了描述戰區人民的苦難而獻出生命，他不是英雄，只是一抹高尚的靈魂，為了沈默者而發聲。
家屬發言人巴爾費(Barak Barfi)說，索特羅夫並不想成為一個現代的「阿拉伯的勞倫斯(Lawrence of Arabia)，他只是試圖去發掘隱藏在一個黑暗世界的良善，並且為阿拉伯世界受苦和弱勢的人發聲。索特羅夫並非一個戰爭愛好者，而是被中東紛亂的故事所吸引。
巴爾費說，索特羅夫的家人雖然悲傷，但誓言「不會被敵人以他們唯一擁有的武器─恐懼，扣押為人質。」
伊斯蘭國2日公布美國記者索特羅夫遭到斬首的影片。這是伊斯蘭國8月將美國記者佛里(James Foley)斬首，藉此報復美軍空襲伊拉克的伊斯蘭國成員之後，再度發布將美國記者斬首的影片，更揚言下一個遭到斷頭的將是1名英國公民。
