據英國《都市報》報道，美國航天航空局(NASA)正計劃培訓一群『太空人』，將來能送到火星進行探測。美國路易斯安那州一名13歲少女艾麗莎已經訂好20年後的計劃，就是成為首位從地球出發的『火星人』。

根據人民網報導，而艾麗莎目前也正在NASA的人選名單之中。艾麗莎說，她已經接受相關太空訓練長達9年，等於從4歲起就接受太空訓練，所以對於無重力、縮在狹小太空艙中等環境都能有足夠適應。現在的艾麗莎仍持續接受NASA組織的特訓。

艾麗莎表示，她希望能在2033年完成登陸火星的任務。她目前正學習數學、科學、中英文等知識。但這趟火星之旅，很有可能會讓艾麗莎永遠成為火星人，回不了地球。她的父親說，和艾麗莎討論過這一點，但艾麗莎堅持要去火星。
