新德里計畫訓練流浪狗 轉型為護衛犬

「印度人報」(The Hindu)今天(9日)報導，印度首都新德里(New Delhi)政府準備將路上的流浪狗，送到警察學校的警犬訓練中心，透過中心的調教，轉型成為捍衛民眾安全的護衛犬。
新德里民眾長久以來就會私下認養一些流浪狗，餵養牠們並讓牠們幫忙看家，不過，這次卻是新德里政府首次透過正式計畫，要將街上的流浪狗轉型成保衛社區民宅安全的護衛犬。
新德里當局表示，將由警方動物訓練專家來訓練這些流浪狗，讓這些流浪狗轉型成護衛犬後，編入新德里政府新成立的「有什麼可以幫忙的嗎？(May I Help You?)」城市安全防護隊，協助警察維護公共秩序及加強安全警戒。
新德里民防隊隊長悉里瓦斯塔瓦(Jalaj Shrivastava)告訴「印度人報」記者說：「如果這些流浪狗未來能夠協防新德里都會區域(NDMC)，那牠們或許可以幫上大忙。」
他表示：「我們的計畫是認養這些流浪狗，並加以訓練成護衛犬。」，然後再由牠們跟城市安全防護隊一起合作，保衛城市公共安全。
悉里瓦斯塔瓦說，目前城市安全鄉防護隊有40名隊員，未來將擴編到700人。
