洋基隊長Derek Jeter最後一個球季，確定不能以分區冠軍的身分退休。光芒靠著Ben Zobrist的再見安打，以1比0擊敗洋基，同一天金鶯也贏，洋基隊在美聯東區淘汰指數歸0。

Jeter最近陷入24支0低潮，這場比賽沒有先發。

前8局洋基、光芒0比0，9局下半一出局後，Logan Forsythe擊出安打，也是光芒團隊第三支安打，再靠James Loney的安打上二壘。代打David DeJesus被三振、Matt Joyce獲保送後，Zobrist擊出安打、送回再見分。

這是光芒今年第21場完封勝，9局上半登板的Joel Peralta，拿到本季第三勝。被擊出再見安打的Shawn Kelley，吞下第6敗。

兩隊先發投手都有優異演出，光芒Alex Colome本季第二場先發，投6又2/3局被敲6安、沒失分，洋基Chris Capuano投6局被敲2安，也沒掉分。

光芒本季對戰拿下10勝7敗，是自1973-75的紅襪隊以來，又一支連三季對洋基10勝以上的隊伍。兩隊還有兩場比賽要打，洋基確定對戰勝少敗多。

洋基吞下2連敗，戰績76勝73敗，美聯東區第三，外卡第6，落後第二的皇家6場。光芒拿下二連勝，戰績73勝78敗，外卡榜排第7，落後皇家10場。
