季後與運動家簽下3年3000萬美元合約，巴特勒（Billy Butler）在感恩節前夕特地在《堪薩斯城星報》買下版面，感謝皇家球團過去長期的栽培。

2004年首輪第14順位被皇家隊挑中，巴特勒2007年登上大聯盟，成為陣中主力打者，選擇買下全版廣告，標題為「感謝這段驚人的旅程」，內文中包括幾張向皇家主場觀眾群眾致意、揮棒、以及與妻兒的照片。

巴特勒在內文中表示，慶幸自己多幸運能成為皇家隊一員，感謝球團老闆、高層、全體球團人員，無論對待他或是他的家人，都是同樣地用心，如果沒有他們，不知道會不會有那麼美妙的經驗與機會。

另外，巴特勒特別感謝所有隊友們，並且感激球迷過去這10年來堅定的支持，他可以很驕傲地說，永遠都是皇家的一份子。

即使今年球季多項數據寫下新人球季以來新低，出賽151場，66分打點，長打率3成79，上壘率3成23，打擊率2成71，9支全壘打，不過總計巴特勒8年皇家生涯，平均打擊率2成95，127轟，628分打點，上壘率3成59，長打率4成49。
