日本男星妻夫木聰新片《溫哥華的朝日》，描述戰前加拿大日本移民受到差別待遇辛酸過往，在加國特映會妻夫木英文台詞獲讚流利，他害羞坦言都只是硬背的英文台詞，９月底赴溫哥華宣傳時，當地媒體看電影也誤以為他英文很溜，紛紛包圍想採訪，他情急下只好喊「很抱歉，我不會說英文」脫身。
