烏拉圭在小組賽最終戰以1：0氣走義大利，驚險晉級十六強，但賽後所有焦點都在這位「咬咬前鋒」Luis Suarez身上，他的Facebook、Twitter也成為全球球迷發洩的目標。

下半場，Suarez在禁區與義大利Giorgio Chiellini卡位時，「情不自禁」咬了對方一口，Chiellini嚇到緊急擺臂，正中Suarez門牙，兩人雙雙倒地，未聞哨音響，縱使Chiellini向裁判秀出傷口也沒用。

Suarez在兩個社群網站最新的一則留言是賽前和老婆、小孩拍攝的親密照片，「感謝你們的支持與蒞臨，你們帶給我的能量是任何人都比不上的，愛你們！」他在上頭寫道。

但該則照片的討論完全「歪樓」，充斥各國球迷賽後的怒火，英文、西班牙文、義大利文，甚至還有中文，內容當然不外乎辱罵字眼，輕則「動物」、「狗屎」之流，重則髒話問候。

由於這已經是Suarez生涯第3次被抓到咬人惡行，不只球迷，全球媒體也看不下去，紛紛以「惡棍（Villain）」、「有毛病」批判他的脫序行為。

眼見事態鬧大，國際足總（FIFA）緊急宣布將調查Suarez咬人事件，可能將對他處以禁賽處分。
