洋基與紅人的跨聯盟戰第三場，洋基先發投手黑田博樹帶著6.2局失一分的表現下場，結果牛棚又把黑田的勝投搞砸，最後洋基在9局下靠著Brian McCann敲出再見安打，終場洋基3比2在三連戰橫掃紅人。

今年黑田博樹可說是悲情代表，不是勝投被牛棚搞砸，就是隊友火力不支援而吞敗，總計黑田先發20場，在12場優質先發中，只拿下3勝(4敗)。黑田目前為6勝6敗，防禦率3.88，最近又是連2場優質先發都拿不到勝投。

黑田博樹此役與紅人隊王牌Johnny Cueto在前4局都沒讓對方跨越雷池一步。直到5局上，紅人隊Zack Cozart靠著洋基隊二壘手Brian Roberts的失誤與隊友推進上到二壘，Skip Schumaker再從黑田手中敲出二壘安打，紅人隊打破鴨蛋取得領先。

5局下則換Johnny Cueto出狀況，三振掉Brian Roberts後，接連投出2個保送，Derek Jeter與Jacoby Ellsbury各敲出安打，洋基隊將比數超前，形成2比1。
