因應中颱麥德姆撲台，國防部表示，針對坡地易生災害區域及可能發生淹水之低漥地區，持續加強預防性撤離及收容營區整備工作。

國防部指出，國軍已於22日1600時，由第二、三、四、五作戰區派遣預置兵力2千3百餘人，協助地方政府執行預防性撤離，並實施沙包堆置6千3百餘袋；另海軍陸戰隊AAV-7兩棲突擊車44輛已預置於下湖西營區、蘇澳鎮公所、官田營區、恆春、枋山及左營等地區，後續將視颱風動態，執行人員搶救及撤離工作。

國防部進一步表示，國軍亦結合地方醫療單位，編組救災醫療小組21組（126人、救護車21輛），主動提供民眾緊急救護支援及收容醫療照護工作；另配合各地方政府安置民眾需求，國軍目前可收容之營區計有107處，收容量為1萬4千餘人。

國防部強調，國軍秉持「救災就是作戰」之精神，將持續加強各項災防整備工作與兵力部署，並主動協助地方政府執行民眾預防性疏散撤離，以確保國人的安全及降低災損。
