NBA官網指出，火箭隊宣布球隊通過與國王隊交易得來泰瑞（Jason Terry）和兩個未來的次輪選秀權，國王隊得到阿朗佐-吉（Alonzo Gee）、霍普森（Scotty Hopson）以及一個交易特例。

其實火箭和國王關於泰瑞的交易協議，月初就已經達成協議，交易中涉及到的合約存在一些限制。

今年夏天，火箭送走了林書豪，但在後場位置并沒有進行相應的補強。從球風上而言，泰瑞正好符合火箭需求。雖然37歲的泰瑞年事已高，但是他豐富的作戰經驗仍然能給火箭隊帶來一定的幫助，職業生涯打過93場季後賽，其中在2011年幫助小牛隊奪取總冠軍。。

泰瑞上賽季前半段在籃網僅出場35場，平均得4.5分。在上賽季交易截止日前夕，他被交易到國王，但他因為左膝傷勢沒有參加剩餘的比賽。他職業生涯投進了1950個三分球，在現役球員中排名第二。

對於即將到來的火箭生涯，泰瑞充滿期待，他自信能夠在航天城展翅高飛，「感謝火箭能讓我平穩過渡。噴氣機已經正式進入跑道。」
