大型下壓修邊機我想你指的是路達router 或稱手提式雕刻機
沒有規定要多大馬力. 不過市面熱賣的不少都超過兩匹馬力
路達和一般修邊機差別:
1.馬力較大基本上都超過1000瓦
2.路達夾持柄徑多為6和12mm (英制則是1/4和1/2吋) 修邊機則是小的6mm (1/4吋)

當然因為機台較大零配件較多
也較常見可調速的功能
下壓底座雖非只有路達專有但是算是特色組合
因為可以控制一段段進刀深度穩定的循序漸進挖深孔所以有其便利性

我個人認為有路達的需求其實很大成份要看你的柄徑需要
粗的柄徑穩定度高可以較長當然大頭的刀具也多

至於你問的 belt sander 砂帶研磨機我沒有用過手持型的
就不多發表意見
但是以工具機的原則來說
手持式就是工具去接近被加工物件
固定的台座式就大多是倒過來: 被加工物靠過去機台

所以belt sander 砂帶研磨機可以想見大多是磨大平面比方桌板
如果你是小的休閒木工需求可能磨小物件居多
台式磨床可以比較安全的加工
