紐約時報11日報導，開發手機應用程式叫車服務的優步公司（Uber）橫掃世界各大城市後，美國芝加哥和紐約市市政當局已秉持「打不過對方就加入對方」的原則，著手開發類似優步服務的手機應用程式。

紐時指出，芝加哥當局已核准創設一套或多套應用程式，可讓使用者透過手機，從市內任何一家合法計程車業者叫車；紐約市議會的一名議員也在8日提議創設類似應用程式，容許紐約市民「線上呼叫」全市約2萬輛合法計程車。

芝加哥的那項計畫，是該「計程車司機公平改革」方案的一部分，已獲計程車工會及市議員的支持核准。紐約市政當局尚未就線上叫車應用程式提案表決。
