台北羽球公開賽8強賽18日開打，中國「金滿貫」好手林丹，表現依舊犀利，終場以21：15、21：10、43分鐘擊敗從未交過手的日本上田拓馬。

連兩屆奧運男單金牌的超級丹在首局一度落後，隨即奪回主導權，在8：8之後超前比數並拉開差距，搶下首局勝利。

林丹在第二局則是越打越順手，一路壓制對方攻勢，順利拿下第二局。

下一戰林丹將碰上另外一名日本選手武下利一，兩人先前交手過1次，由林丹拿下勝利。

晉級準決賽的武下利一在8強賽以19：21、21：16、21：16逆轉勝，送走上屆冠軍韓國孫完虎。
