媒體報導，總統夫人周美青訪日時，要求下榻飯店降下國旗。對此，府方人士7日表示，該篇報導絕非事實。

聯合報報導，「周美青下榻的大倉飯店經常招待各國政要，飯店以升國旗顯示對房客的禮遇，大倉曾經在周美青入住第一天升中華民國國旗，第二天即降下，據說是應周美青的要求。因為她認為自己是以故宮代表團、原聲合唱團『榮譽團長』的身分來此，而非以『總統夫人』。」

府方表示，大倉飯店依其既有慣例，於重要外國貴賓「抵、離」飯店時，皆升該國國旗以表對房客之禮遇，此次夫人獲同等禮遇，夫人也從未與飯店接洽談及國旗一事。媒體報導所言，飯店「應周美青要求」降旗一事，並非事實。
