Taiwan market: Samsung launches MILC Smart Camera NX1

Samsung Electronics on December 8 unveiled its Smart Camera NX1, a flagship MILC (mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera), for immediate launch in the Taiwan market at a recommended retail price of NT$85,990 (US$2,774) for a camera body plus a 16-50mm F2-2.8 S ED OIS lens and a price of NT$48,990 for a 50-150mm F2.8 S ED OIS lens alone, according to Samsung Electronics Taiwan.
Samsung Smart Camera NX1 features 28-megapixel APS-C BSI CMOS image sensor, a 3.0-inch 720x480 Super AMOLED swivel touch screen, dimensions of 138.5 (W) by 102.3 (H) by 65.8 (D)mm and a weight of 550g (not including battery).
Samsung has become one of the two largest MILC vendors in the Taiwan market, with the two having a combined MLCC market share of over 70%, Samsung Taiwan indicated. While global demand for consumer digital cameras has been shrinking due to competition from smartphones, that for MILCs is still growing, Samsung Taiwan said.
